JOC GAME AIDES

What is the role of a Game Aide?
Game Aides are experienced players within the sport of airsoft who continue to support and play with JOC on a regular basis. They're a group of players who aren't actual mods but who are available for new (and older) players to ask questions and get advise on all kinds of subjects. From gear and guns, to tactics, to game rules if the mods are tied up for whatever reason the Game Aides would be the guys to talk to.
Why does JOC want to make members aware of this group of players?

  • Lack of in-game direction
Game Aides have been playing for a number of years and generally know what is happening during objectives and games even if its not 100% clear at the beginning. If your not sure what’s going on, chances are, an Element does.

  • Field awareness
Some fields don’t have clearly marked boundaries, or have potentially dangerous hazards such as fallen timber, swamps, or hidden creeks. Chances are, an Element has been to the field more then a few times and can help direct you around these hazards or give you a heads up before they cause injury. If your new to a field, its a good idea to stick with a JOC Element until you become more familiar with the area.

  • Skill / experience upgrading while getting into the sport
Think bringing a 20L water jug to a 24 hour game is a good idea? An Element would know its not, and advise you to bring smaller 500ml bottles of water or a hydration pack instead because they can be carried with you into the field where you need it. Its small tips like this that JOC Elements know of that make them a good resource to go to when your trying to improve your game.

  • Administration control / Enforcement
Although a JOC Element are NOT Game Administrator, they have been around the game long enough to know what is expected of a player while in the field, and have earned their title by being a trustworthy player over the years. It’s because of this earned status that club Administrators have also entrusted JOC Elements to watch for situations of cheating, unsportsmanship and general safety during games.

  • Are Game Aides moderators?
Again Game Aides are the eyes and ears of the JOC Mods/Admins if a Game Aides sees an act of cheating or misconduct once the on-site mod/admin is informed he'll handle it as if he had seen it himself. If a Game Aide talks to you about something, consider that your warning.
How do I become a JOC Game Aide?
Its easy, just play Airsoft! Simply play the sport fairly, and respect others who do as well. Try to attend not only JOC games, but games hosted by other clubs Alberta wide, even out of province games are a blast! After a while the club admins will know who you are and how you conduct yourself on the field from just seeing you around. At that point we'll approach you to see if you're interested, that being said it couldn't hurt to mention to the admin staff that you would be interested in being a Game Aide.

If you have any questions please contact a club administrator via the forums.
